Can we emergency recall Dave Babych?

The Canucks head into tonight’s game in Dallas under circumstances that are most appropriately described as utterly dire.

Not only has the team been mired in a slump of monumental proportions (dropping from first in the Northwest/third in the Western conference to fourth in the Northwest/ninth in the conference), it now faces the prospect of playing tonight absent four of their regular six defenceman (actually, five out of six, if you want to count Kevin Bieksa, who is out for most of the season).

Having already lost Willie Mitchell, Lukas Krajicek and Bieksa to injury, the roadtrip from Florida to Dallas ended with Aaron Miller (foot) and Mattias Ohlund (undisclosed personal leave) unable to suit up tonight.

That means the Canucks will likely dress the following defenceman: Alex Edler, Sami Salo, Luc Bourdon, Mike Weaver, Zach Fitzgerald and Alex Burrows (yes, third line pest/agitator and FORWARD, Alex Burrows).

Dave Babych still lives in Vancouver. Any chance we could sign him up for a game or two?

I thought Canucks played well. Seems as if they are hobbling along admirably. Good thing they stockpiled all those defense in draft years past.
If they don’t win in Atlanta, will not be good for rest of year- don’t want to go 0-4 on a road trip.

As long as he’s still rockin’ that ‘stache, it might not be a bad idea.

That’s tough, real tough. Oh wait, you want me to feel sorry for you? Eat it chump. My team’s way worse than yours is.
