Prove me wrong

Having already nailed my colours to the mast, I suppose I should stick by my prediction that the Canucks are not going to make the playoffs after losing to Colorado on Tuesday night.

That does not mean that our boys can’t prove me wrong. In fact, it goes without saying that I very much hope they do.

The first step toward splashing my face with egg and instigating some excitement in my heart come April is a victory over the (now) eighth place Nashville Predators at the Garage.

If the Canucks have any hope of winning tonight, it is imperative that the Sedins and Markus Naslund rediscover that elusive skill of putting a six ounce piece of vulcanized rubber three inches wide and one inch thick into a six foot wide, four foot high net. If the abysmal offensive output from the Canucks’ offensive linchpins continues, it is highly unlikely that the Canucks crawl back into playoff position tonight.

The most worrying prospect about tonight is that a Canucks loss will leave them four points behind Nashville with only one game in hand and, potentially, four points behind Colorado with one game in hand. Worse still, the Phoenix Coyotes are now only one point behind the Canucks and the Chicago Blackhawks only two points behind the Canucks.

In other words, if the Canucks don’t get it together, fast, things could get rather ugly in the next few weeks. Even, potentially, draft lottery ugly.

Don’t worry, Montreal will beat Phoenix tonight. Habs rule.

And as someone still (also) rooting for the Avs, can we please, please, puh-leeze avoid the all-too-common 3-point game tonight in Vancouver?

And I don’t suppose losing this guy for the season will help either:
