Opportunity knocks

The man of glass, he is indeed.

It appears that Pavol Demitra will, in fact, be out of the lineup for an extended period. TSN is reporting that the results of his MRI confirm he will be out 3-4 weeks due to fractured cartilage in his ribs.

If it weren’t abundantly clear already, now is the time for Kyle Wellwood to make his mark.

I have to say, had they replaced Pyatt on that Demitra-Raymond line, I thought that had some real potential. (Admittedly, I’ve only seen a couple of Canucks games this year, but I thought Demitra was a really good fit for the youngster…)

Nevertheless, you’re right: now is the time to see if Wellwood can recover (or was forever ruined) from being a Maple Leaf….

Pyatt has been dreadful this season. It’s hard to determine what has/is affecting his game so profoundly, but he looks utterly listless on the ice.

From what I can tell, the ‘second’ line for the Edmonton game is shaping up to be Krog-Wellwood-Raymond. We’ll see how many minutes they get. I have a hunch that Vigneault may well give most of the putative second line minutes to the Burrows-Kesler-Hansen line.
